This was my first race with MBH in 2024. It wasn’t originally on our race calendar, but since many teams had confirmed their participation and it was the season’s first race, we decided to go as well.
Before joining this team, we used to handle everything ourselves: loading the bike onto the car, picking up the race numbers with the help of my parents, and if something needed fixing, my dad took care of it. It felt strange to have a team supporting me this time. They swapped out the training wheels for the carbon ones and even adjusted the brakes. All I had to do was change into my kit and pin on my race number. Being in a big team is a whole different experience.
It was an unusual sense of ease—preparing for a race like this is entirely different from having to do everything on your own.
This gave me time to catch up with my former teammates and wish them a good race. In the photo, you can see Koloszár Peti and me enjoying the reunion:
Here I am with Ákos Németh, Peti Koloszár, and Balázs Korondi:
The U19, U23, and Elite categories all started together.
It felt unusual not to be the only one from my team in the peloton. Out of habit, I initially positioned myself at the back of the lead group, like I used to as a solo rider, to take advantage of the slipstream. Then I remembered—this time, we were riding together.
The group split up, and we weren’t fully coordinated yet, but Marci Takács broke away with Fülöp’s group and ended up winning the race, kicking off the season with a victory for MBH.
As an opening race, it was a good start, and we’re looking forward to the next ones!
